My daughter had been arrested and was scheduled to appear before a judge in Early Resolution Court in just two days. She had already been in jail for a week and had not yet been contacted by a public defender, even though she had requested one at her initial appearance. I was panicked that my daughter would not have legal representation on her court date. Some dear friends of mine told me to contact Julio Laboy. I told them I couldn't afford to hire a private attorney, but thankfully my friends insisted and I contact him immediately. I cannot express the relief I felt after talking with Julio. He was so kind and put my mind at ease by letting me know that he would help my daughter. He and his staff began making phone calls and getting information as soon as we got off the phone. I believe it was one of those phone calls by the Laboy Law Office that prompted the public defender to finally contact my daughter, and she was offered a plea deal. I conveyed the plea information to Julio and he said that it did sound like a good deal. Now, the remarkable part to this whole story is that Mr. Laboy had provided all of this help to me and my family, and had not even been paid one red cent yet!! Why would a well-known and highly respected attorney do that? Because he is a genuine and nice person who truly believes in helping others. He could have told me that my daughter would not receive adequate representation from a public defender so that we would hire him and I wouldn't have doubted it, but he didn't. In fact, Mr. Laboy didn't even ask how we planned to compensate him for the help his law firm had already provided to us, but there was no way I was going to take advantage of someone who was so ethical and honest. We worked out a fair dollar amount and parted ways. There are no words to express how absolutely blessed my family is to know Julio Laboy.
